I am lucky that I spend time abroad as I have family in Poland and my partner is from Munich so we spend our Christmases over there with family and friends.

Travel is my outlet (by default) for mental clarity and reflection and will continue to be so. I don’t believe travelling per say gives mental clarity but it does provide me with the platform to step back and put things into perspective as I have periods of time to think, digest information, write notes, listen to music.

Away from travel I create mental clarity without spending a penny, I’ve learnt that being truthful with myself is the way to go. Some thoughts for you.

1) Are you lazy? Write down what it is exactly you want and find a way to do it. Go for the promotion, start the business plan, climb Everest, take the kids to Disney. Work it out. Save. Plan. And stop making excuses.

2) Turn off social media we all know how toxic it can be ( I allow myself 10 minutes per day on Facebook I am not saying that is right ) but the same people post the same stuff, everyday. Don’t be that person. What a waste of time.

3) Learn to enjoy your own company and create the ability to step back. Choose what it is you enjoy and do it. Sports, Exercise, Leisure, Entertainment, Music, Travel, Arts.

4) Spend time with people you care about and vice versa. Cut out the people who don’t care. Stop chasing.

5) Work out every single day. Get some exercise done. If you cant even be bothered to stay in shape how are you going to master everything else in life?

6) Write down the most important areas in your life – Friendships, Money, Relationships, Family, Travel, Health, Fitness. What would you improve?

No body is perfect. We all have ups and downs but I truly believe if you try to create mental clarity you will have a better chance of avoiding the real bad times.

So heres to 2020 and my first real post of the year. Make it a good year, there’s nothing better than a story of somebody turning there life around. It’s all in your head. You can do whatever the fuck you want.
